So far smartphone´s paradigm is to increase the hardware and the screen size both in the amount of ppi as its diagonal.

So to end this attribute has been carried that in 2011 with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note we saw the birth of a new category of gadget, called phablets, with screens greater than 5 inches.

With these screens I would have thought that size could not remain an exploitable attribute because make it hard holding the devices with one hand, but the latest rumors of Galaxy Note III defy my opinion.

Samsung Galaxy Note III with 6.3 inch screen

Apparently the screen of the next Samsung Galaxy Note III will take a big jump from the 5.5 to 6.3 inches, which has a certain logic if we think that the trend in smartphones this year is towards 5-inch screens.

Thus the Note III would compete directly with the phablet Huawei Ascend Mate introduced at CES 2013 having a 6.1-inch screen.

Samsung Galaxy Note III with processor Exynos 5 Octa

Another rumor of the Samsung Galaxy Note III suggests that next phablet could include the Exynos 5 Octa, a processor that has big.LITTLE architecture offering two groups of four cores: one optimized to reduce energy consumption and the other for better performance.

I wonder if this new processor will be enough to solve the cost of energy that will have such screen. But the truth is that I think necessary an evolution of the current technological paradigm towards autonomy, something that might come from changing the batteries, new display technologies, or a combination of them.
