Facebook could acquire Whatsapp. Yes, as you read. The social network and instant messaging service would be in talks so that Mark Zuckerberg’s company buys the famous messaging application.

If the operation materializes, would confirm the strategic commitment of Facebook to continue expanding the world of mobile devices. Recall that last April, Facebook bought Instagram and in 2013 we may see a native Facebook application for Android. This is not surprising as Mark Zuckerberg has always shown interest in users of mobile devices, a huge market that is rapidly growing and in which Facebook still has failed stomp strength.

If the transaction goes through, Facebook would be guaranteed to have the most popular messaging application in the world, with apps for Android, iOS, Symbian, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia S40 and more than 100 million users worldwide (though in the latter time have also appeared applications as LINE that have begun to gain ground on WhatsApp).

As I reported a few days ago, we know that WhatsApp will not be for payment, but are likely to change hands in the near future. We do not know much about the amount of the transaction or of the conditions of purchase as neither Facebook nor Whatsapp reported nothing.

I will look to keep you informed of any new developments! How about this purchase? Would you like Facebook to acquire WhatsApp? Leave me your thoughts in the comments!
