After delays in October of this year, Samsung returned to the production of flexible displays. Apparently these will be presented at CES 2013, a 5.5-inch version that would be aimed at mobile devices and a 55-inches for TVs.
The display for smartphones of 5.5 inches will have a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels with a pixel density of 267ppi, somewhat lower than we’re seeing in the high-end devices presented this year.
Unfortunately, the screens will not have the ability to bend back on themselves, however, Samsung is working on this feature.
Flexible displays, the next paradigm?
When I commented my thoughts on the Yotaphone, a dual-screen Android phone to save energy, I wondered if the change of paradigm technological that comes would be around autonomy.
However, I think this may also come from the hand of flexible displays, in which case we’ll be seeing next year in ads a new parameter of competition between manufacturers, the ability of bending the screens.
