According to the latest report from Strategy Analytics, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has become the world’s best selling smartphone during the third quarter of 2012, removing first place to the iPhone 4S.

While were marketed 18 million units of Samsung´s flagship between July and September, “only” 16.2 Apple device terminals were sold, compared to 19 million last quarter, which saw its sales affected due to the launch of iPhone 5, which sold 6 million units in that period (remember that was released in September).

Thus, the Galaxy S3 has an incredible 10.7% of the market share of smartphones globally, while the iPhone 4S remains at 9.7% and the iPhone 5 3.6%, leaving a 76% for all other phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has proven to be an extremely popular device in all continents and has already exceeded 30 million units sold.

Will Samsung and its Galaxy S3 beat the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 in the fourth quarter and assert themselves as the best-selling smartphone of the market for another three months? We will have to wait to find out.
