Today in AndroidADN I bring you very useful app. This is Voice for WhatsApp, an interesting application to use WhatsApp by voice that lets you both listen and send messages using your voice.

Now, when you get a notification from WhatsApp, the application will read the message for you. Also you will be able to read it and you will have the option to respond orally dictating the device. Interesting, is not it? This can be very useful at times when we can not use our hands to write a message.

This application, which was developed by an XDA forum member, is still in beta and not available on Google Play.

Requirements:

  • Have installed WhatsApp. If you have not downloaded it, You may do so here.
  • Android 4.0.3 or higher (Android 4.1 is ideal)
  • root access
  • TTS installed
  • Internet Conexón
  • Languages: Spanish, English, German and French

So far the tests have been performed on a Samsung Galaxy S3 and a Nexus 7 although users with other devices have reported that the application works fine.

Once you’ve downloaded and installed Voice for WhatsApp, you must activate the accessibility to the application by going to Settings -> Accessibility -> Voice for WhatsApp.

I must say that the application works pretty well. The voice that reads us is not as pretty because it is too robotic and sometimes incorrectly read words, but the truth is I find it extremely comfortable and useful. Consider that this is a beta version, so it is normal to find some flaws.

New features of the latest version 0.9.0 are:

  • Correction of bugs
  • greater stability
  • Now you can turn on / off the display lights when you receive a WhatsApp. If you do not have a lock screen, the application will read the message.
  • Fixed widget lockout
  • French has been included

So you know, if you want to hear and send WhatsApp messages by voice, Voice for WhatsApp can be a great alternative.
