The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is already a reality. But how is this new smartphone in relation to the Galaxy S3 original? Today in AndroidADN I bring a comparative: Samsung Galaxy S3 vs. Galaxy S3 Mini.
As expected, yesterday was introduced the new Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, a new 4-inch smartphone that will compete directly with the iPhone 5 in the segment “not so big” display devices as the Galaxy S3.
JK Shin, president of the Korean company, had announced that the new device would be a smaller version of the Galaxy S3 in performance but mainly in size. Is this true? Today in AndroidADN will analyze the characteristics of both devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a huge SuperAMOLED screen 4.8-inch HD (1,280 x 720 pixels and 306 ppi), while the Galaxy S3 Mini has a 4-inch SuperAMOLED panel with a slightly lower resolution (800 x 480 pixels and 233 ppi ).
The Galaxy S3 features a powerful processor Samsung Exynos 4 Quad Quad-Core 1.4 GHz GPU Mali-400MP, while the Galaxy S3 Mini has a chip STE U8420 dual-core 1 GHz together with the same GPU Mali-400.
RAM and Internal Memory
Both devices have 1 GB of RAM and come in several versions in terms of storage: the Galaxy S3 comes in versions 16, 32 or 64 GB (expandable to 64 using micro SD cards), while the Mini version includes 8 or 16 GB of memory (expandable up to 64 GB with microSD card).
Both devices feature two cameras although the Galaxy S3 are somewhat better. This device has an 8-megapixel rear camera capable of recording video at 1080p, and a 1.9 MPx front camera with 720p recording.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S3 Mini has a 5 megapixel main camera capable of recording video at 720p and VGA rear camera.
The Galaxy S3 has a super full connectivity with HSDPA, 5.76 Mbps HSUPA Mbpsy 21, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS (with support A-GPS) and GLONASS and 4G in certain markets.
The Galaxy S3 Mini comes with quad-band 2G connectivity and tri-band 3G (HSDPA 14.4Mbps and HSUPA 5.76Mbps), dual-band Wi-Fi a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS / GLONASS.
Dimensions and Weight
Due to its larger screen, the Galaxy S3 is larger than his younger brother. The SGS3 original has the following dimensions 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm with a weight of 133 grams, while the SGS3 Mini measures 121.6 x 63 x 9.85 mm and weighs 111.5 grams.
The Galaxy S3 was launched with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but is in the process of upgrading to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, while the Galaxy S3 Mini goes on sale next month with Jelly Bean from Factory.
What throws this analysis is that the Galaxy S3 is significantly above the Galaxy S3 Mini because it is a high-end device, while the new Mini would be located in the middle range.
The Galaxy S3 has a better screen, faster processor, better cameras and more connectivity options. However, it is also true that a device is more expensive than the Galaxy S3 Mini, which goes on sale at a price to be around 350 euros (free).
