Today in AndroidADN I’ll show an important lesson, how to perform a Wipe Data / Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition in the Samsung Galaxy S3 from ClowckWork Mode, and more importantly we will explain what it is about each. On other phones is very similar, but not identical, and there is no need to worry, because if you are careful absolutely nothing negative will happen to your smartphone.
All you need is to have root access and install the ClockWork Mode application, which you can do in one step by following the next video:
WIPE DATA / FACTORY RESET
This process will reset the device to the factory state of the rom installed, wich means that if you have the initial rom the device will return to its original state, like when you bought it.
This is the most drastic process since it will erase some data wich may result important for you, so it´s recommended to perform a safety backup before doing this. I must say i´ve never lost photos or documents, but the apps and their data will be lost and the media files may be deleted, this depends on the phone and the succes of the process.
WIPE CACHE PARTITION
The most frequently used system files are stored in a special area in your flash storage so the phone can access them quickly. This area is called “cache”.
Wipe cache partition means wiping the most commonly files from the cache. These files won’t be deleted from your phone in general so it’s SAFE to wipe the cache partition, you can go ahead and do that without worrying. This is not as drastic as the wipe data/factory reset.
WIPE DALVIK CACHE
The Dalvik Cache is a virtual space in the phone´s memmory, wich uses the Java´s virtual machine on Android to execute the applications.
The amount of space used icreases over time and can´t be replaced much less can be recovered so we´ll need many times to clean the system to keep the performance optimized. Also does nothing drastic.
