The official YouTube app for Android has just been updated incorporating some interface changes, and other news that users of Android 2.2 and Gingerbread 2.3 will really enjoy.
The first change observed is the new design, which uses the Holo interface of Ice Cream Sandwich and presents a new sidebar on the left side showing the channels and categories.
Has also been added the ability to preload videos in Froyo 2.2 and Gingerbread 2.3, to watch later. This functionality can be very useful to upload a video from a place we have WiFi and then view it in another place that we have no connection.
In YouTube 4.1.23 we have control over YouTubeTV queue, so we can transform our Android into a remote control and watch the videos on a computer screen or TV. To do this, go to Menu> Add YouTube TV and synchronize the external screen on which we see the video by following the instructions. And now we also have more channels to surf.
The new version of YouTube can be downloaded for free from Google Play.
