Robin, the Siri competitor for Android, just received a major update to version 2.0, which incorporates a totally renewed design and many new features!
Robin is an interesting voice assistant that you can ask for directions, places, real-time parking, traffic, gas prices, weather, news on our Twitter and more.
The first major change is seen in its new Robin UI. While previous interface was not bad, the updated version is much nicer and elegant.
Other developments include the news section, which provides the top headlines from a variety of categories, and a personal news feeds from Facebook and Twitter.
Although it claims to be “Siri challenger” Robin is more focused on traffic and parking instructions, which explains why many of the new features point in this direction, as proactive traffic alerts. This new feature warns us traffic alerts while driving, allowing us to find an alternative route to avoid congestion headaches.
Unlike many apps like Siri in Android, Robin has an interesting Handsfree activation method: just move your hand near the device.
Here is the full list of new features in Robin 2.0:
- User Interface renewed
- Narration of emails and SMS with Handsfree
- Voice texts
- Proactively: listening to messages as they arrive.
- Proactive traffic alerts: question about directions and traffic conditions in real time
- News section: breaking news headlines and news personal Facebook and Twitter
Robin 2.0 already can be downloaded for free from Google Play and requires Android 2.1 or higher.
